If you have been watching my vlogs from November, then you know that I was in the middle of planning a baby shower for one of my very best friends, Mattie! As I have said many times, I LOVE events and I love event planning and designing a special day. Today, I am sharing with you all the details and a few tips to help you pull off a successful baby shower!
When me and a friend decided we wanted to host this shower, we both knew exactly what the theme should be, Woodland. It fit Mattie’s personality and her hubbies love for hunting. Considering she is expecting a baby boy, it kind of was a no brainer.
The first few steps were just coming up with a general plan. Once we decided on the date, location, time, and menu we had a pretty good start.
I then ordered invitations from an online site called zazzle.com. I originally fell in love with a design on Etsy, but the turnaround time was too long. Once the invitations were out, I focused on decorations, games, and the flow of the event.
As you can tell from the photos above, I did a few DIY projects including the centerpieces, Moss “B” letter, marshmallow garland, “Get to Know Mommy and Bo” table cards, onsie garland, personalized signage and more! I will be posting a video soon on how I did all of them, so stay tuned. I think they would be great for Christmas decorations too.
The games we played included: I printed out free online printables, The Price is Right (for baby products) and Baby Word Scramble, we also did the “My Water Broke” game, which is plastic babies frozen in ice cubes and placed in cups (the one that melts first wins), and the “Don’t Say Baby” game where you collect peoples clothes pins if they say the word baby.
We also made sure to designate a photographer for the event, which was Crystal, who took all the photos above and more, so Mattie would be able to remember the event forever. Also, we designated someone to write down who the gifts were from, and someone to pray over the food.
My biggest tip for pulling off a baby shower is to make lists! No kidding, I made like 10 lists. Maybe I’m an over thinker or control freak, but it really paid off when it came to organization. I had a list for every different table (Gift table, Entry Table, Cake and Coffee Bar, Guests Table, Food Table) and what should go on them. Another tip that was given to me and really helped was to set-up and decorate the night before. It made the morning of very easy because all we had to do was make sure the food was ready to go.
All in all I had a great time and hope those who came, and Mattie did as well! It was so much fun! I appreciate everyone who helped make it possible! I hope you enjoyed the photos above! Let me know what you think and be sure to share with your friends!
